TENNIS ETIQUETTE


1. Give your opponent the benefit of the doubt on all calls and maintain strict honesty yourself.

2. Between points, notify the server that you are sending her the ball and send it directly; don't make her chase it.

3. When a ball lands on your court from an adjoining court, stop play immediately and call a "let". Return the ball promptly and courteously.

4. Make calls of "let" or "out" immediately.

5. You may move at all times, but do not wave your racquet or arms or otherwise attempt to distract your opponent.

6. Provide your share of new tennis balls.

7. Never enter someone else's court while play is in progress.

8. Be certain the receiver is ready before serving.

9. Don't protest or question opponent's calls, either by speech or by manner.

10. Avoid arguments of any kind.

11. Treat your opponent with courtesy. Accept defeat graciously.

12. Avoid getting angry with yourself or your opponent.

13. If no agreement to a dispute can be reached, toss a racquet or coin.

14. Relinquish the court when due. Observe all court rules and insist that others do the same.
